Meet Mary Johnsson, Celtic’s very own media guru. As the director of media services and with over 25 years of experience, Mary’s specialty is getting our clients where they need to be seen, all while getting the best deal. From building custom-made media plans to experimenting with new alternative media options, Mary is not afraid to try new things. On her days off, you’ll find her getting her favorite Korean street food with her two kids or relaxing on Chicago’s Lakefront Trail.

What do your kids think you do?
My kids will usually say “you work in advertising, you’re on the computer… a lot, and you get great deals.” (They’re pretty spot on)

A big part of your job is building relationships with publications. What’s your go-to?
Like a good romance, the best media partnerships start as friendships. A handwritten thank-you note to sales reps always lets them know how much we appreciate them going the extra mile for our clients.

Sadly, our summer is coming to a close here (cue the tears), what was the best thing you did this summer?
I would have to say watching my son sing and dance ON STAGE with Roger Waters from Pink Floyd at the United Center. Something I thought I would never see in my life, I was cheering him on and dancing in the pit. (We need to meet this kid!)

Would you rather: flying cars or robot housekeeper?
Robot housekeeper, no doubt. As a mom of two, I got over being a neat freak a long time ago. It’s like shoveling in a snow storm. Word to the wise—never Skype me on a day I’m working from home.

Time to learn a little bit more about Mary with our “Lightning Round.”

Shaken or stirred?
Shaken, and then stirred

Roller coaster or hammock?
Both, but not at the same time

Thin crust or deep dish?
Thin— preferably Lou Malnati’s or I Monelli

Word association, GO!
Bears: Da Coffee: I’m alive! Emoji: Pass

Thanks to Mary for playing! To see more of our friendly faces and learn about the Celts that make this place go, check back each month.
