Q&A
Q: What brought you to Celtic?
A: I am excited to work at an agency! Most of my career has been spent in house and I like the diversity of projects we get to work on in an agency environment.
Q: What are you most excited about in your new position?
A: I am excited to lead my team. My goal is to make sure my team is learning new skills and having the confidence to pursue what they like to do. I am excited to share what I know with them but am even more excited to learn from them.
Q: What motivated you to be in the current industry you are in today?
A: Marketing is often undervalued, social media and content writing in particular, because it does not always demonstrate an ROI. However, in the deluge of AI generated content, I feel that social media and content that is made by humans has the ability to break through the noise so our clients can connect authentically with their employees and consumers online.
Q: What advice would you give to someone getting started in social content?
A: You know how they say practice makes perfect? I like to say that planning makes progress. Having an organized social content calendar makes it so much easier to build integrated campaigns so your online voice is aligned with your larger campaigns. Planning helps with strategic thinking and gives you the bandwidth to adapt when something cool is happening like a new social media trend.
Q: What one piece of media (film, book, album, etc.) would you say has impacted your own creativity the most?
A: The book Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott - in particular her chapter about embracing the bad first draft as part of the process. The phrase Bird by Bird basically means that you can only tackle a challenge one step at a time and big projects feel less monumental when taken in small chunks. It is a great book for writers because it encourages honesty and vulnerability in both the process and the product. But it is also just a really good book about life. It is okay to make mistakes and life, much like art, does not have to be perfect to be beautiful.
Q: Where is your go-to place to relax on the weekend?
A: When the weather isn’t terrible you will likely find me in my garden, drinking coffee and hopefully counting butterflies and not weeds that need to be pulled. I try to spend a little time every day in my yard, even in deep winter, to appreciate how nature changes through the seasons.
Q: Do you have a favorite motivational quote?
A: The word ‘love’ is most often defined as a noun, yet we would all love better if we used it as a verb.” – bell hooks from All About Love: New Visions
Q: If you got to sit down at the dinner table with three people, past or present, who would they be?
A: I consider myself to be quite good at throwing dinner parties and the guest list always curates the vibe.
